Dior Show Mascara Review

A quick stroll by Sephora's mascara display will reveal the supremacy Dior's mascaras has in the high end segment of mascaras in the market. A few weeks ago, I got my hands on a deluxe sample at Sephora. Let's see how it worked on me.

Product Description From Dior

Buildable Volume Lash-Extension Effect
Runway mascara with extreme volume and a ""lash-extension"" effect.
Diorshow combines the legendary power of its XXL brush with a buildable cream formula for adjustable professional volume and spectacular lashes. The result : customized volume to mirror the effect of professional lash extensions.

It took quite a few coats until I achieved the results you're seeing in the photos. I would have to agree that the formula is buildable for increased volume and length and that there was little to no clumping.

Diorshow Mascara Review
The lashes look lush from the side but here's my gripes with Diorshow - the lengthening and volumizing is barely noticeable from afar. By afar, I mean the distance between the mirror and my bathroom sink counter. I was only able to clearly see the little volume and length increase from the photos I took for this review.

Diorshow Mascara Review Brush Wand Applicator
Diorshow indeed has an XXL-sized brush and it reminded me of  Smashbox's Full Exposure Mascara's own applicator brush. The bristles are clustered together and distributed evenly in bunches.

The chunky brush worked well in separating lashes but the formula did very little for my lashes. At $25 a tube, this one is a pass for me, but I would be interested to try their other mascaras as they have 4 other types in their lineup.

O.C.C. Liptar Review feat. NSFW

This is a delicious lip day as I'm going to cover my favorite O.C.C. Liptar, the gorgeous and stunning NSFW, a "true balanced red" quoting Obessive Compulsive Cosmetics' own description of the color.

If you don't know what O.C.C. Obesseive Complusive Cosmetics Liptars are, check out my post here for all the details. The liquid lip colors come in a squeeze tube so you will need a lip brush to apply the product. You can use your finger too if you have good precision working with your hands. Liptars do not contain tar. It's just a name.

NSFW swatch amongst the other brights I have.

Before starting, keep in mind whether you're using a brush or your finger, try your best not to get product outside the lines of your lips. Liptars are highly pigmentated so they will stain. The brighter/darker the shade, the messier it gets when you try to wipe it off!

Prep your lips by applying a lip balm for moisture, then line and fill your lips with a good lip liner. I use Make Up Forever's Aqua Lip in 1C light neutral beige. A lip liner will prevent feathering and your lip color will last longer. Then squeeze out tiny (about 4-5 pin-sized drops) bit of NSFW onto a lip brush or finger, apply on lips and even out. Apply a second layer of NSFW if it's not opaque enough. Liptars go on glossy but dries matte or, semi-matte if you have a lip balm underneath.

The product holds up very well for about 6 hours even with eating and drinking. Becareful of feathering after a meal. Bring some Q-tips for maintenance. At about 3-4 hours, you will notice your lip starting to dry. I usually apply some more lip balm and a thin layer of liptar on top to keep things looking fresh.

NSFW goes well with dramatic smoky eyes or a neutral look like the one I did above. I purposely did a natural, glowing look and added a simple twist with NSFW that transformed everything. This balanced red turns out beautifully against most skin tones. It's a classic shade that is hard to go wrong with. I am not a lip color person but was completely sold after successfully and almost effortlessly turning my lips into center-of-attention bombshell gorgeous.

Pretty Casual Using Too Faced Chocolate Bar Makeup Tutorial

I have another tasty makeup tutorial using Too Faced Chocolate Bar for you. The inspiration came from the very pretty eyeshadows, Candied Violet and Black Forest Truffle themselves. These two stand out on their own amongst the other brown-toned shadows and my love for the color purple, I knew I would do something with these two.

I didn't see how the colors would turn out exactly at the start so I just let my eyes and hands do the work. I enjoy how the look turned out but didn't expect the purple to look so neutral on me. It's not completely unexpected I suppose..it's a neutral palette afterall. Fortunately, the ever lovely purple is still visible. It's pretty and casual so I've named this look as such, Pretty Casual. Pun intended.

Step 1 - After primer, apply White Chocolate to lids and brow bone using any preferred eyeshadow brush. (I recommend a brush that's dedicated to light eyeshadows).

Step 2 - Using the same brush as above, apply 1-2 layers of Salted Caramel (matte neutral rose) to both lids from lashline to center.

Step 3 - Using a different eyeshadow brush than the one from above, dab some Candied Violet (purple shadow on the second row in the pic above) and overlay it ontop of Salted Caramel. Leave a little bit of Salted Caramel (area right across the center of the lids) uncovered. We are going to blend into the crease later.

Step 4 - Use a smudge brush to dab Black Forest Truffle (sparkly plum purple on top row in pic above) then line your lashline.

Step 5 - Using the same brush and Black Forest Truffle, work towards your outer v and wing out the shadow a little bit.

Step 6 - Use a crease brush to blend Black Forest Truffle working upwards and outwards into crease. Blend color into crease. The Salted Caramel we've left untouched from Step 3 should still be visible after blending. There should be a smooth blend of Candied Violet, Salted Caramel and some Black Forest Truffle in the crease.

Step 7 - With a medium flat eyeshadow brush, add Champagne Truffle to the center of your lid and blend out with a fluffy brush (or crease brush). This will give the look additional texture as light is reflected off the sparkles.

I winged out my eyeliner a bit more than usual to match the wing I've created in Step 5 using Black Forest Truffle. Moderate wing-outs are great to give your look an instant-zing. Put some mascara on to finish the look.
