Fun Ways to Incorporate Bright Yellow into Your Wardrobe!

How to Wear Yellow

If bright yellow looks good on you, wear it. I say this because not everyone looks flattering in it and we need more color in this world. The inspiration behind this ensemble is summer as it will be arriving shortly! In some places around the world, summer is the only season all year round, but I digress. When I think of summer, I think of bright colors and all the nice things that is apt to do outdoors, cycling, swimming, eating ice cream, walks, and the list goes on. Basically fun stuff. And the funnest of all bright colors is yellow! I don't know. Something about bright yellow lights up the room. Perhaps it's the association with the sun or that sweet sweet clone banana you can buy at the grocery store.

As you can see, I used gemstone green tee and a blue/purple pants to match the bright yellow, because I wanted to show that you can wear yellow, but it doesn't have to be in the form of a dress, pants, or shirt. It's actually much easier to find bright yellow accessories (shoes, bags, watches) rather than clothes. I wanted the entire outfit to be colorful so I avoided the obvious choice of black, but still got a nice, but balanced contrast with a green and blue that's understated next to the yellow.

The little bucket bag was chosen for its round shape and cross-body wear option. It's big enough to hold all the essentials, but small enough to keep slung around the shoulders all afternoon for laid back carrying. The watch was chosen for fun because its colors were similar to the shirt and pants. The necklace is an accessory piece used to show that understated, non-flashy jewelry can go well with the set otherwise I would've been perfectly happy with the watch and cute heart-shaped sunglasses alone.

Hope you found the set and explanation to be useful in putting together your own bright yellow outfit!

All Blush Pink, All The Time

Blush Pink Jumpsuit

The title of this post is a little misleading. Not all the pieces in this ensemble is blush pink nor did I research further to see what the brands officially listed the colors as, but meh I don't care. I like jumpsuits (aka jumpers) and nude tones which sums up how this ensemble came to be. Saw the gorgeous Augusta jumpsuit and immediately thought how elegant, chic and darling! and needed to put something together. I definitely went the glamorous route with my choices. Those blush pink sandals can be easily paired with glamorous evening gowns as seen on carpet events, but hey I've seen celebs, for smaller events wear pants rather than dresses so I think this set is a real possibility. Just need to change the brown tote to a clutch and some heavier bling bling and you're set to go. Albeit not many stand out very much in blush pink but let's save the flowing gowns for the awards shows.

This glamorous and gorgeous outfit, sadly won't look very flattering on light-colored Asians....=( Not much to do with the style, but everything to do with the color. Unless you are very very light Asian, blush pink will make you look washed out. While it's not the end of the world, it isn't the best color you can be in either. The color in general looks fabulous on ivory and fair skinned girls as well as dark-skinned girlies so we can dream and we can certainly try 'em on! =)

Nautical Dress Up

Having waaaay too much fun putting together outfits on a Thursday evening. The inspiration for this ensemble came from my fixation for nautical ("sailor") blazers. Speaking of nautical blazers, I bought one a few weeks ago. The fit was perfect, but I ended up returning it cause one side was wrinkled inside the garment when you buttoned it up and this wrinkle was visible on the outside. While not all blazers are made with the same kind of quality standards (usually the more expensive, the better quality) it still bothers me when an otherwise "perfect" blazer has these visible flaws. Blazers and especially fitted blazers for the modern women are expected to have well fitted clean lines that accentuate the waistline. The entire garment looks very smooth to the eyes with no wrinkles, misaligned buttons or poor stitch work to be seen. Anything otherwise to me, always sticks out as a sore thumb.

I do not own any of the pieces used in this set. The highlight of the ensemble lies in the nautical clutch and nautical sandals. I love both of these and felt they are the center pieces of the set. The silver-colored (I don't know if they are actually silver or sterling silver, etc) accessories are flattering finishing touches to which you can of course swap with other kinds of accessories or jewelry. I picked silver because it ties in nicely with the silver on the clutch and unlike gold-colored or gemstone embedded jewelry, it's much more subtle. Like the accessories, the rest of the pieces are either a solid dark blue or black in color. Again, I felt the clutch and shoes stand out enough on their own and it's unnecessary to have a nautical skirt or shirt distract the set. All I really cared for in those pieces was that they were chic and form fitting.
